Established in 1873, the Mount Vincent University is a public university located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Often called as ‘the Mount’, the university has Canada Research Chairs in Gender Identity and Social Practices as well as Food Security and Policy Change. The university is unique nationwide as it has a Chair in learning disabilities, Master of Public Relations program, Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies, and numerous other such programs and research initiatives.

The university comprises of various faculties: Faculty of Arts and Science; Faculty of Education; Faculty of Professional Studies; and Faculty of Graduate Studies. Mount Vincent University offers the only four-year bachelor's degree program in public relations in Canada and its Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Study is the only one of its kind in the region. It is also the first university in Canada to establish a program dedicated to tourism and hospitality management. Some of the prominent programs at the university are in the field of Public Relations; Public Policy Studies; and Tourism and Hospitality Management.

The total student population at the university is more than 2,400 students of which over 2,200 are enrolled in the undergraduate programs. The university also operates various research centres like: Dr. Rosemarie Sampson Centre on Aging; Food Action Research Centre (FoodARC); Nova Scotia Centre on Aging; Centre for the Arts in Research and Teaching etc.

The Mount is home to a long-standing, accredited co-op education program; students across all Mount programs have opportunities to gain hands-on experience as part of their studies.
