Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology History

Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, is a public university located in Nanjing, China. It was established in the year 1960 by China Meteorological Administrative, then changed into the name Nanjing Institution of Meteorlogy in May 1963. NUIST is the oldest institution of higher learning of meteorlogy science in China.

The University has more than 30000 students and international students 1000.

Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, located on the north bank of the River Yangtse, in the heart of the Industrial Zone of Nanjing, on 140 hectares of campus. The university boasts 27 basic or professional laboratories and 15 of them are listed as demonstrations of experiment teaching centres in Jiangsu Province, i.e. Experimental Teaching Center of Atmospheric Sciences, Experimental Teaching Center of Environmental Science and Engineering, Experimental Teaching Center of Automation and so on. With a total collection of 1.85 million paper documents and 2357G electronic books in Chinese and other languages, as well as 19,000 electronic periodicals and 1,800 paper periodicals, the library of NUIST has the foremost complete literature on atmospherical sciences among all the schools in China.
