New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, New Mexico tech (and formerly known as New Mexico school of Mines) is a public university located in Socorro, New Mexico. Established in 1889, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology is a relatively small university focused on Science and Engineering.

History

New Mexico Institute of Technology and Mining was established in 1889 for the purpose of boosting the territorial economy and to teach mining. In 1930’s, petroleum and engineering were also added as teaching disciples in the university curriculum and subsequently become important subjects.
