The Government of Alberta founded NorQuest College, previously Alberta Vocational College (AVC), in 1965 with the primary goal of providing untrained and underemployed Albertans with the chance to obtain skills required in an industrialized workforce.

NorQuest College Medical services

 Doctor's visits and medicines are frequently covered by various insurance plans in Alberta. International students should be covered by the provincial Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) as well as NorQuest College's Students' Association Health and Dental Plan.

Nurses are available by drop-in Monday to Friday 8:15am - 4:30pm at the Centre for Growth and Harmony, and NorQuest College provides medical services through a number of health clinics.

      NorQuest College has three regional campuses and one downtown campus in Edmonton (one in each of Drayton Valley, Wetaskiwin, and Whitecourt). Inmates can take high school credit and non-credit personal development classes in the Edmonton Remand Centre and the Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre, as well as employment training courses at the Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre.
