What is the typical academic load for a traditional undergraduate student?

The standard academic load is 16 semester hours per term, but students may take up to 20 semester hours. To register for more than 20 hours, a student must have at least a 2.5 GPA and submit an overload application to the Office of the Registrar. Standard undergraduate tuition covers up to 17 hours per semester; an additional fee is charged for each credit hour beyond 17.

What on-campus services are available to support students?

North Park provides a range of services including 24/7 Campus Safety, Information Technology (IT) support for account setup and Wi-Fi, Physical Plant for building and grounds maintenance, a Postal Center for mail and package pickup, and a Ventra U-Pass for unlimited CTA rides for full-time traditional undergraduates.

What are the application requirements for first-year undergraduate students?

First-year applicants need to submit official high school transcripts, an academic reference, a personal essay, and optional ACT/SAT/TOEFL scores. Nursing Direct Admission requires an unweighted high school GPA of 3.75+ (or 3.50+ with ACT 27+ or SAT 1290+) and maintaining a 2.75+ GPA at North Park and in science courses.

What are the application deadlines?

North Park accepts applications year-round. However, to maximize admission and financial aid opportunities, students should file the FAFSA in October, accept their offer of admission and pay the deposit before May 1, and register for classes between April and June.

Do I need to complete the FAFSA every year?

Yes, you must complete the FAFSA each year to remain eligible for federal aid, including student loans. Dependent students and their parents use the same FSA ID to sign the FAFSA annually. To also be considered for need-based aid and federal student loans, completing the FAFSA is essential.

What is Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and who is eligible?

CPT refers to any off‑campus internship, field experience, or practicum in your major of study. Degree‑seeking students must complete one academic year in F‑1 status and meet North Park’s requirements for an internship or practicum before being allowed to participate in CPT.
