Northern College Haileybury History

In 1967, while Ontario's college system was taking shape, Northern College was founded. The school was established in 1967 as a part of a provincial drive to establish a number of similar establishments to offer career-focused diploma and certificate programs, as well as continuing education programs, to towns throughout Ontario. Kirkland Lake hosted the first campus, which was then followed by those at Porcupine (which is now a part of the merged city of Timmins), Haileybury (where the pre-existing Haileybury School of Mines served as a campus, which is now a part of the merged city of Temiskaming Shores), and Moosonee.

Students may work part-time jobs at Northern College Haileybury. You must have a valid study permit and be enrolled full-time in order to be permitted to work on campus (except during scheduled breaks & the last term before graduation). In the event that your application for a study permit is accepted, you will immediately be given permission to work off-campus up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and full-time during scheduled breaks without having to submit an additional work permit application.
