The Northern College Timmins of applied arts and technology is known as Northern College as well. The Northern College is located in Timmins, Northeastern Ontario, Canada. Approximately 1,500 full-time students attend Northern College Timmins every year. More than 11,000 students enroll in continuing and part-time education each year.

Northern College was established in 1967, as Ontario's college system was beginning to take shape. The school was founded in 1967 as a part of a provincial initiative to launch a number of comparable institutions to provide continuing education programs and career-focused diploma and certificate programs to cities across Ontario.

The Northern College Timmins campus is now operating on a limited basis and is taking all necessary precautions to halt the spread of Covid-19. Other hygiene regulations, such as hand washing and not touching one's face, are in place. Masks are also required, and sign-in and sign-out protocols are in place. The campus offers a variety of amenities, including a cafe, a health and wellness centre, housing, and a library.

Northern College Timmins Housing services

  On-campus housing is offered by Northern College Timmins. Room amenities at the Timmins Campus housing services include a bed, desk, chair, light, closet, drawers, and connections for a telephone, cable TV, and the internet. The apartment complex has laundry facilities, lounges with cable television, a gaming room, and a sizable shared kitchen with five cooking stations. A single room's semester cost is $3100.00, while a monthly cost is $775.00.

Northern College Timmins provides medical services on campus. Primary medical care, immunizations, First Aid/CPR instruction, treatment for minor illnesses, injuries, and emergencies, evaluation of illnesses or injuries and referrals to appropriate care, as well as emergency transportation to medical facilities like the hospital emergency room are all available to students at Northern College's Timmins Health Center.

Northern College Timmins student support

Northern College Timmins provides student support services. Numerous student support services, such as transition supports like Computer Boot Camps and Summer Orientation, are offered to aid students in preparing for college life and their academic program. Students can get the help and support they need to thrive in college. Advisors provide guidance on both academic and personal matters. Students who feel they would benefit from more support will receive it. If you feel like you are having problems staying on track, are feeling overwhelmed or just need more information, the Student Success Advisor can be of assistance.

Northern College Timmins visas & immigration support

    It is essential that you keep backup copies of all important documents (such your passport, study permit, health insurance card, etc.) in a safe place once you are in Canada. The expiration dates of your documents should also be noted. A study permit is your legal right to pursue your education in Canada. For further information, go to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website. Your study permit could arrive in one to six months. You can apply for a study permit by going to the local Canadian Visa Office (or online if you are eligible for this option). A $125 processing fee applies.

Sports and fitness facilities are available on the campus of Northern College Timmins. The Northern College Timmins Campus Wellness Center has exercise rooms, a weight room, a squash court, exercise equipment, dressing rooms, and saunas. Basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, floor hockey, and badminton are all available in our full-size gym. All employees and students have access to these facilities, and the general public can purchase memberships. Both full-time and part-time Northern College students, full-time employees, and the board of governors all have free access.

A number of health and wellbeing services are offered at Northern College Timmins' health and wellness centre. To help students learn more effectively, the centre offers a variety of services such academic labs and counselling. At Northern College Timmins, students are permitted to hold part-time jobs. To be allowed to work on campus; you must have a current study permit and be enrolled full-time (except during scheduled breaks & the last term before graduation). If your study permit application is approved, you will instantly be allowed to work off-campus up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and full-time during scheduled breaks without having to apply for a separate work permit.

For student safety on campus, Northern College Timmins provides security services and programs that are designed to prevent or at least reduce negative outcomes. Seven days a week, from 8 am to 10 pm, security officers are on duty and available to help students.
