Student Support

Odisee places students at the centre of everything they do, offering comprehensive support services. The STUVO social services department provides advice and assistance on various matters, including accommodation search, sports and culture on or off campus, workshops and training, personal study guidance, and study financing. Students with specific diagnoses or who have received additional help in the past can apply for an O-status (Ondersteuning/support), which entitles them to certain accommodations tailored to their situation. There is also a buddy system for new students, where they receive support from a fellow student. The ASR (Algemene Studentenraad/General Student Council) works on subjects such as the academic calendar, catering and student facilities.

Student life at Odisee is vibrant and diverse, with various clubs, sports and student council roles that give opportunities to get involved and take initiative. The university organises relaxing activities throughout the academic year at student-friendly prices, including karting, indoor skiing, laser shooting and escape rooms. Each campus has its own student restaurant where students can buy hot lunches, snacks, salads, soups and sandwiches at reasonable prices. The university fosters a collaborative learning environment with teamwork, and students have the opportunity to meet new people from all over the world, broadening their horizons.

Housing facilities (Accommodation)

Odisee does not have on-campus housing nor does it manage any student accommodation, but the STUVO social services department helps students with their search for accommodation. In Sint-Niklaas, 42 students can live in the student residence on campus, with short-term stays also possible for exams or internships. Students can rent student rooms through student services on the Ghent and Sint-Niklaas campuses. STUVO provides information about approved rooms on the private market. Brik developed the MyKot student housing platform (mykot.be), where students can find more than 4,500 student rooms, studios and apartments in Brussels.

Student Safety

Odisee cares about student safety, particularly during study or traineeship mobility abroad. The university provides travel advice and guidance on travel documents including visas. For all destinations outside the EU, a valid passport is required, and for stays longer than 90 days, students need to apply for a Long Stay Visa (Type D), also called Authorisation for Provisional Sojourn. The university also addresses gender equality in recruitment and career progression, and has measures against gender-based violence and discrimination. Odisee offers a practice-oriented training with a focus on strong theoretical underpinnings, giving students an edge on the job market. The university emphasises learning by doing and develops teamwork abilities and business professionalism to prepare students for future careers. Many students receive job offers during their studies, and 34% found work during their programme through internships or the bachelor's thesis. Karamel is the official job service platform of Odisee, a digital platform where (former) students can find job opportunities. The ESF project "Values-driven career plan for students: the key to sustainable employment" aims to make students aware of their own choices toward a sustainable career during their college journey.
