In 2023, the Communication Department hosted the inaugural President's Speech Contest, featuring ten talented students who delivered speeches on various topics. This event celebrated the 145th anniversary of the founding of the Curry School of Elocution and Expression, highlighting the college's dedication to fostering public speaking and communication skills among students.
In 2023, students from the School of Business and Technology competed at the Northeast Intercollegiate Sales Competition (NISC) hosted by Bryant University. Representing Curry College for the first time, students such as Cayla Osowski, De’Shon Harris, Nicholas Melo, and Will McNamara showcased their skills against top college business programs, demonstrating the college's commitment to providing real-world business experiences
In 2022, Curry College introduced "Alex," an artificial intelligence texting chatbot named after Alexander Graham Bell. Alex provides students with 24/7 support, answering questions related to academics, financial matters, student life, and mental health. By engaging in real-time text conversations, Alex ensures that students have immediate access to essential information and resources, thereby enhancing their overall college experience.
Also in 2022, Curry College launched "Kiwibot," a semi-autonomous robotic food delivery service. Equipped with advanced sensors and cameras, Kiwibots navigate the campus to deliver late-night snacks and Starbucks orders to students. Operating at a safe speed of 1.86 miles per hour, these robots offer a hygienic, safe, and convenient solution for on-campus food delivery, reflecting the institution's commitment to leveraging technology for student convenience.
Curry College launched the Center for Innovation to create new revenue sources by leveraging academic resources to serve new markets. The center acts as an innovation hub, responding promptly to market demands through certificate programs, professional development offerings, and new academic programs. It also plans to launch incubator spaces to support student and faculty startups, fostering a culture of entrepreneurship within the campus community
