Otto von Guericke University was founded in the year 1993 making it one of the youngest universities in the country. It is located in Magdeburg, Germany. The University gained its name from the famous physicist and mayor Otto von Guericke.

The University comprises of various faculties namely Faculty of Computer Science, Faculty of Economics and Management, Faculty of Human Science, Faculty of Mathematics, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering and Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.

The University has a number of associations that are beneficial to its students such as IKUS, MIPS and Studentenwerk Magdeburg. The IKUS is an association that enables students from other countries to engage in activities and get to exchange their cultural activities. MIPS is an association for the International Ph.D. students to work together towards socio-economic growth. Studentenwerk Magdeburg is a system for students to get comfortable dormitories to stay.
