Paul Valery University Montpellier III commonly known as UPVM is a French university in the city of Montpellier. The university was founded in the year 1289 by Pope Nicholas IV as the third university in France. In 1970, the university split into three and Paul Valery University Montpellier III was created by the merger of faculties of Arts, Languages, Social Sciences, and Humanities. Other faculties were split into Montpellier I and Montpellier II.
