Everything You Need to Know About Application Requirements at Petroleum Institute

Applicants to PI’s legacy programs (now offered through Khalifa University) must meet specific academic criteria depending on curricula:

Applicants within the UAE:

High school graduation within the last two years.

Minimum high school grades: Elite – 75%, Advanced – 80%, General – 90%, other curricula – 75%  .

Minimum EmSAT or equivalent scores:

English: 1400 (conditionally acceptable), Math: 1250, Physics: 1000, Computer Science: 1000, Elective (Chemistry/Biology): 1000, Arabic: 700 (waivable for non-Arabic speakers) .

Applicants from outside the UAE:

American Curriculum: Minimum of 3 in three AP courses (Math, Physics, Chemistry) or SAT Math ≥?700.

British Curriculum: At least C in eight IGCSEs plus requisite AS/A-Level qualifications.

IB: Minimum score of 4 in relevant subjects .

English Language Requirement:

IELTS (Academic): ≥?6.0

TOEFL iBT: ≥?79

EmSAT – English: ≥?1400 (with conditional pathways for 1250)  .

Graduate and PhD Admissions:

Requires a relevant bachelor’s degree and may include placement or written qualifying exams based on program specifics.
