Pittsburgh State University is located in Pittsburg, Kansas. It is a member of the Kansas Board of Regents and enrolls approximately 7,400 students (6,000 undergraduates and 1,400 graduate students).
Pittsburgh State University History
Pittsburgh State University was established in 1903 as the Auxiliary Manual Training Normal School, which was originally a branch of the Emporia State Normal School (now Emporia State University). In 1913, it was established as the Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburgh or Pittsburgh State for short. Over the next four decades, its mission expanded beyond teacher education. To reflect this, the name was changed again in 1959 to Kansas State College of Pittsburgh. On April 21, 1977, it was renamed Pittsburgh State University.

Campus
Pittsburgh State University's 223-acre (0.90 km2) campus is also home to the $30 million Kansas Technology Center, a state-of-the-art technology programme in Kansas' largest academic building. The Bicknell Family Center for the Arts opened in December 2014. The Bicknell Center is Pittsburgh State University's first true performance facility since 1978, when deterioration forced the closure of Carney Hall. In addition to the Linda & Lee Scott Performance Hall, the facility includes a 250-seat theatre, a 2,000-square-foot art gallery, a grand lobby, a reception hall, and a multi-use rehearsal space for large musical groups.

Pittsburgh State University is home to the Leonard H. Axe Library. The library provides students with all of the resources they need for academic environments. The library has extensive collections of books, magazines, articles, journals, and online periodicals, among other things.

Residential departments at Pittsburgh State University provide housing services. Pittsburgh State University provides traditional, apartment, and suite-style living arrangements. Beds, desks and chairs, chests, and wardrobes are provided in each room. Parking passes, all utility costs, laundry facilities, kitchen access, high-speed wireless Internet, and secured access are among the amenities. Most units also have cleaning services for the bathrooms and common areas. Each hall's lobby area provides students with a relaxed atmosphere and amenities such as vending machines, relaxation areas, big screen televisions, and small kitchenette areas are available in most halls.

Bryant Student Health Center provides medical services to Pittsburgh State University. The Bryant Student Health Center's goal is to provide medical services to as many individual students as possible on a daily basis. In order to achieve this, students will be limited to one appointment per day. If a student misses a scheduled appointment, he or she must reschedule for the next available day. Please make every effort to attend your scheduled appointment in order to be seen that day.

Sports and fitness
The campus recreation centre provides sports and fitness centre facilities at Pittsburgh State University. The SRC has over 70 pieces of Strength/Fitness/Cardio equipment, as well as four wood floor gyms that can be used for Volleyball, Basketball, Pickle Ball, Indoor Soccer, and a variety of other indoor games. We have 10 treadmills, 13 elliptical/cross trainers, 12 recumbent and upright bikes, 4 spin bikes, and 4 rowing machines. There is also a small free weight and dumbbell area in the centre. There is a dance studio and a walking/jogging track upstairs. We also have a lounge with two table tennis tables and a sitting area with a large screen TV where you can watch your favorite shows or play Wii/Xbox Kinect games.

Health and Well-being
Pittsburgh State University's counselling services provide health and well-being services. The Bryant Student Health Center houses University Counseling Services (UCS), which provides a variety of counselling and psychological services to current Pittsburgh State University students. Counseling sessions are available to assist students in dealing with the stresses of college life as well as treating mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. All services are provided in a safe and confidential environment. Counseling can range from a brief, solution-focused approach to a more in-depth approach based on the needs of the student. On a case-by-case basis, the approach or treatment plan is discussed with the student. To coordinate student care, University Counseling Services staff collaborates closely with Bryant Student Health Center medical staff.
