In 2019, UPLA's Laboratory of Environmental Geography and Palynology (Lab GAP-UPLA) embarked on creating Chile's first digital pollen bank. This initiative involves collecting and digitally cataloging pollen samples from the Valparaíso region, particularly from the Federico Santa María Nature Sanctuary and La Campana National Park.
