Founded on September 15, 1936 in Medellín by the Catholic Archbishop and intellectuals, UPB is a private, Pontifical Catholic research university. It was originally titled Universidad Católica Bolivariana and gained its Pontifical status from Pope Pius XII in 1945 .

Everything You Need to Know About Application Requirements at Pontifical Bolivarian University

1. Fundamental Eligibility

A completed undergraduate (or higher) degree from a recognized institution  .

International degrees must be validated and authenticated; documents must have Hague Apostille  .

2. Documents Required

Undergraduate degree certificate and full academic transcripts, including hours and credits  .

Valid Colombian student visa (or PD?stamp) for stays over 180 days  .

Passport/ID copy, application fee receipt, recent photo .

Spanish proficiency certificate for non-native speakers (minimum B1) or successful exam from UPB’s language center  .

3. Program-Specific Requirements

Many programs require a diagnostic test, interview, submission of research proposal or essay, or portfolio (especially for creative disciplines) .

For certain advanced medical specializations, there are additional prerequisites .
