Applying through UCAS
Applications for full-time undergraduate degree programmes at Queen’s must be made through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). Details of the application process can be obtained from your school, or from British Council offices. UCAS operates an online application facility
Applying Direct
The Direct Entry Application form is to be used by international applicants who wish to apply directly, and only, to Queen's or who have been asked to provide information in advance of submitting a formal UCAS application. Please note that the direct application form must not be used for applications to Medicine or Dentistry.
Applications should be submitted online via the Postgraduate Applications Portal for admission to the vast majority of postgraduate programmes
New applicants will need to register via the Portal to create an application account. Guidance on how to complete an application is provided within the Portal and it is possible to save application data and return to complete it at a later date, if you wish. After core details about yourself and your academic background have been provided, you can submit an application, or multiple applications, if required.

The Agent Portal will allow you to manage your applicants who are applying for entry to Postgraduate degree programmes at Queen’s University (both taught and research). The eligibility criteria include the following:
Undergraduate degree:
The overall minimum admission average for all direct-entry undergraduate applicants to Queen's University is 75%.
- GCE/GCSE Qualifications Passes in the General Certificate of Secondary Education or International General Certificate of Secondary Education (minimum grade C/4) and the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) as follows:
- a) Passes in at least five subjects, two of which should be at A-level or
- b) Passes in at least four subjects, three of which should be at A-level. A-level (Double Award) will be acceptable in place of two A-levels.
- Two AS-levels will not be acceptable in place of one A-level in fulfilment of the General Entrance Requirement.

Master's Degrees
The normal minimum requirement for admission to a Master's degree is a Second Class Honours degree from a UK or Republic of Ireland (ROI) Higher Education Provider or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University.
Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates
The University offers postgraduate study for diplomas and certificates in a wide range of subjects. Entrance requirements vary by course and you are advised to consult the individual course entries in the Course Finder.
Research Degrees (PhD/MPhil/MD/Professional Doctorates)
The normal minimum requirement for admission to a research degree programme is an Upper Second Class Honours Degree from a UK or ROI Higher Education Provider or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University.
Specific entrance requirements for individual programmes are available via the online Course Finder and we recommend that you also visit School webpages and contact potential supervisors to discuss your proposed research.
Factors taken into consideration by School selectors will include an assessment of an applicant’s academic background and research proposal (if applicable). Relevant publications, professional research experience or other achievements by the applicant may also be considered.

- Copies of Academic transcripts from secondary schools and/or university studies
Please upload good quality scanned copies of the following:
- Degree transcripts for all completed periods of study (undergraduate level and above).
- If your degree is still in progress, you must provide a transcript of results achieved to date. This can be requested from your University.
- Copies of your official Degree/Diploma Certificates, for the qualification(s) you have already completed. These are the documents that confirm the level and title of your qualification(s), for example, Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
- For each qualification, the degree transcript and degree award certificate should be combined in one document for uploading. You may upload a combined document in respect of one undergraduate course, and additional combined documents for up to three postgraduate courses.
- Research proposal (for MPhil/PhD/MD applicants only).
- Certified translations, if your original documents are not in English. If you do not have translations at the time of application, please forward by email to [email protected] when available.
- English language requirements: applicants whose first language is not English will need to show evidence of an acceptable level of competency in the English language.

For all applications (Postgraduate Taught and Research), you must include the names and contact details of two referees, normally academics, who are familiar with your undergraduate and/or postgraduate studies. If you have taken a higher degree or postgraduate course, one of your referees should normally be from that institution. If you have been away from higher education for some time, you may use an employer as one of your referees.
You do not need to include reference letters with your application. These will be requested directly by the University if required. Please therefore ensure that you carefully enter the correct email addresses for your referees.
