1. A recognised Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, generally at L3/Bac+3 level (180 ECTS) for entry into the first year of relevant Master’s programmes.
2. A relevant academic background in the subject area, such as science, engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or related fields, depending on the programme.
3. Strong foundations in the relevant scientific/technical subjects are expected.
4. For direct entry into the second year, applicants generally need a Master 1 or equivalent (240 ECTS).
5. Applicants are assessed on their academic record, suitability of their previous studies and motivation.
6. A CV, motivation letter, academic transcripts and copies of diplomas are commonly required.
7. English proficiency may be required for English-taught programmes; some programmes specify B2-level English.
8. French proficiency may be required for programmes taught in French; Mines Saint-Étienne states B1 French for students joining French-taught engineering programmes and MSc programmes.
