San Francisco State University is a public research university which was established in 1899. Earlier it was San Francisco State Normal School training for school teachers then in 1972 it became a state university. The university is a part of the 23-campus California State University. The University is located in the southwest area of San Francisco.
San Francisco State University comprises of six academic colleges: College of Business, College of Health and Social Sciences, Graduate College of Education, College of Liberal & Creative Arts, College of Ethnic Studies and College of Science and Engineering. It offers various undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in the field of Accounting Concentration in Business, Apparel Design and Merchandising, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Child & Adolescent Development, Dietetics, Environmental Studies, Health Education, Industrial Design, Kinesiology, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, and Visual Communication Design.
San Francisco State University has over 29,000 students including more than 1500 international students from over 100 countries. The university has more than 1700 faculties and the student faculty ratio is 16:1.
San Francisco State University has two major research centers: The Romberg Tiburon Center for Environmental Studies and San Francisco State Sierra Nevada Field Campus which is dedicated to biological diversity, geosciences, hydrology, and astronomy.
