Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is a private, non-profit art college with campuses in Savannah, Atlanta, and Lacoste, France.

Savannah College of Art and Design History

Savannah College of Art and Design, founded in 1978 to provide degrees in programmes not previously available in the southeast of the United States, now has two campuses in Georgia, a degree-granting online education programme, and a study abroad location in Lacoste, France.

Fine art degrees are available from Savannah College of Art and Design. SCAD enrolled 14,840 students (12,167 undergraduates and 2,673 postgraduates) from all 50 states and more than 110 countries in fall 2019. International student enrollment is currently 17 percent.

Savannah College of Art and Design Achievements/USP

The Savannah College of Art and Design's USP/Achievements include the institution being named one of the top education organisations in the United States. Savannah College of Art and Design is accredited to award bachelors and master's degrees by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Master of Architecture, Master of Arts, Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Fine Arts, and Master of Urban Design degrees, as well as undergraduate and graduate certificates, are awarded by the university. The National Architectural Accrediting Board has accredited the professional M.Arch degree. The Georgia Professional Standards Commission has approved SCAD's Master of Arts in teaching degrees. The South Carolina Commission on Higher Education has granted SCAD accreditation. The Council for Interior Design Accreditation has recognised SCAD's interior design Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

Savannah College of Art and Design infrastructure & services

Campus

Savannah College of Art and Design's Atlanta campus includes classroom and exhibition space, computer labs, a library, photography darkrooms, printmaking and sculpture studios, a dining hall, fitness centre, swimming pool, and residence hall. After extensive restoration, SCAD Atlanta's Ivy Hall (also known as the Edward C. Peters House) reopened in 2008. SCAD Atlanta opened the Digital Media Center in 2009. The Savannah College of Art and Design campus has been recognised by the American Institute of Architects, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Historic Savannah Foundation, and the Victorian Society of America for its efforts to work with the city of Savannah to preserve its architectural heritage, which includes restoring buildings for use as college facilities. The college campus consists of 67 buildings spread across downtown Savannah's grid-and-park system. Many buildings can be found on the old town's 22 squares, which are adorned with monuments, live oaks, and a Southern-Gothic feel.

The Savannah College of Art and Design libraries' mission is to support and promote the university's academic goals: to prepare talented students for creative professions through engaged teaching and learning in a positive university environment.
