Shorter University was founded in the year 1873 as a private liberal arts institution offering bachelors, masters, and associate programs. The US University is located in Rome, Georgia, and has several campuses located across Atlanta.
Over 40 traditional bachelors programs, including bachelors degrees for working professionals, and master degree programs are offered at the university colleges of Ben and Ollie Brady School of Nursing, College of Adult and Professional Programs, College of Arts and Sciences, Ledbetter College of Business, School of Education, and School of Fine and Performing Arts. Some of the most popular majors at the university are Biological Sciences, Sports and Fitness Administration, and Management.
Overall enrollment is approximately 1800 students out of which nearly 1650 students are enrolled in undergraduate programs at the campus and online. Students from almost 20 countries add diversity to the campus. The university has a good student-faculty ratio with a faculty for every 10 students. The university is less selective, with an acceptance rate of 61%.
For non-academic activities, students can choose from 10 Honor Societies, 20 NCAA Sports Teams, and 31 Student Organizations. The athletics home team is called the Shorter Hawks, and they compete in the NCAA Division II.
