Singapore Management University History
Singapore Management University is an autonomous university located in Singapore. In 1997, the Singapore government granted to set up the third university in Singapore. A Singaporean entrepreneur Ho Kwon Ping was appointed as a chairman for the University task force which influenced that the new institution would follow the American university system highlighting a more flexible broad-based education.

Singapore Management University obeys a course credit system similar to that used in most American universities. The University offers 6 schools and programmes such as School of Accountancy, School of Economics, and Lee Kong Chian School of Business, School of Economics, School of Information Systems, and School of Law.
Singapore Management University Campuses
Singapore Management University has seven buildings which are connected by an underground walkway called concourse. It is open for the public and lined up with shops. The Universities’ Teaching facilities include seminar rooms, classrooms, computer labs and group study rooms which are used by students for project discussions. There is also research facilities split up throughout the University. Because of space constraints, sports facilities are limited. However, the university has a swimming pool, gymnasium, and a multi-purpose sports hall which is fitted up with a rock wall. The University has campus-wide wireless LAN networks.
