SRU’s Facilities & Planning Department is tasked with maintaining a quality physical environment, overseeing campus buildings, grounds, and utilities, and planning long-term upgrades.  The university has an ongoing electrical infrastructure upgrade project, planned in multiple phases, to modernize campus electrical systems to meet current and future demands.  Recent facility improvements (scheduled May–August) include: replacement of underground steam/condensate lines, pond dredging, road repairs, HVAC upgrades in buildings, roof repairs on library and academic buildings, and converting intramural fields to artificial turf .  The Robert M. Smith Student Center is a modern, student-centered building (107,000 sq ft) housing dining, retail, student organization offices, lounges, conference spaces, and performance rooms. It’s LEED Silver certified.
