South China University of Technology History

The South China University of Technology also known as SCUT is a public research university located in Guangzhou, China. The university was established in 1952 as the South China Institute of Technology after various faculties from different universities were merged. The university adopted its current name in 1988.

The South China University of Technology comprises of 28 schools in total with 17 in Wushan campus and 11 in Guangzhou HEMC Campus. Wushan campus offers programs in Architecture, Automation Science & Engineering, Business Administration, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Civil and Transportation Engineering, Electric Power, Electronic and Information Engineering, Food Science and Engineering, Foreign Languages, Ideology and Politics, Light Industry and Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical & Automotive Engineering, Physical Education, Physics and Optoelectronic Technology, and Public Administration.

South China University of Technology’s HEMC campus offers programs in International Education, Arts, Bioscience and Bioengineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Design, Economics and Commerce, Environment and Energy, Journalism and Communication, Law, Software Engineering, and Medicine.

South China University of Technology Campuses

The South China University of Technology comprises of two campuses – Wushan and Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center (HEMC) Campus. The Wushan campus is the primary campus spread over an area of 1.83-kilometer square whilst HEMC campus is spread over 1.12-kilometer square. Both the campuses offer world-class student facilities such as classrooms, lecture theatres, laboratories, and study spaces.

The South China University of Technology has traditional Chinese architecture reflected in many of its buildings. The university also offers extensive sports facilities, career counseling services, study spaces, libraries in addition to numerous leisure and recreational facilities.
