Established in 1994, the Southern Cross University is a public university with campuses at Lismore and Coffs Harbour in New South Wales and in Gold Coast in Queensland. The main campus is at Lismore and all campuses are linked electronically for coursework and research purposes, ensuring ease of access and exchange of information.
The university comprises of 6 schools and 2 colleges: School of Arts and Social Sciences; School of Education; School of Environment, Science and Engineering; School of Health and Human Sciences; School of Business and Tourism; School of Law and Justice; College of Indigenous Australian Peoples; SCU College; and National Marine Science Centre. In the field of Geochemistry, Oceanography, Environmental Science and Management, Zoology, Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences, Crop and Pasture Production, Forestry Sciences, Nursing, Complementary and Alternative Medicine the university was evaluated at the highest possible classification of 'well above world standard' in the Excellence in Research for Australia report.
The total student population at the university is more than 15,900 of which over 1,900 are international students.
Southern Cross University’s branch campuses in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth are operated in collaboration with EduCo on behalf of the university. It also operates The Hotel School Sydney and Melbourne in partnership with Mulpha Australia. The university has a strong focus on industry and community collaboration to produce engaged teaching and research outcomes.
