Spelman College History

Spelman College’s history started in the year 1881 as the Atlanta Baptist Female Seminary. The college is an integral part of the Atlanta University Center academic consortium in Atlanta. It got its collegiate charter in the year 1924. It is one of the second-oldest private HBCU liberal arts colleges for women.
