Applicants should have a college-preparatory background, including:
• Two years of algebra
• One year of geometry
• Two years of a foreign language
• Additional recommended courses: more mathematics, science, foreign language
Standardized test scores (SAT / ACT / etc.) are optional for most applicants. The college is test-optional.
• Homeschooled students or those without a high school diploma are encouraged to submit test scores or opt for an interview in place of test scores.
Application essays / writing samples are a critical part of evaluation.
Recommendation letters and high school transcripts are required.
English proficiency / international student requirements:
• International applicants must submit SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, or Duolingo scores unless their schooling was in English.
Additional policies & notes:
The college allows Early Decision, Early Action, Regular Decision, and Rolling Admission (for spring entry via the January program).
For transfer students, the policy is strict: credits from other colleges generally do not transfer. Transfer students begin in the freshman curriculum and must complete four years on campus.
Although the college does not enforce a minimum GPA or minimum required test score, successful applicants typically present a strong academic record; applicants are evaluated holistically on essays, character, and ability to succeed in the Great Books curriculum.
