State University of New York College at Old Westbury came into existence because of the Vice Chancellor Samuel B. Gould who then thought of adding a state college to the system. The college started in 1968 with only 85 students. Then in 1971 the student enrollment suddenly rose upto 571. State University of New York College at Old Westbury with time expanded its campus and was ready to welcome a large number of students. The college over the years have received accolades from various organisations for its academic excellence.
