Established in 1908 as the Eastern Suburbs Technical College, the Swinburne University of Technology is located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The main campus of the university is located in Hawthorn, a Melbourne suburb. In addition to its main Hawthorn campus, Swinburne has campuses in the Melbourne metropolitan area at Wantirna and Croydon. Swinburne also has a campus in Sarawak, Malaysia.
The university comprises of various faculties, each faculty nests various schools within it: Faculty of Business and Law (Swinburne Business School; Swinburne Law School); Faculty of Health, Arts and Design (School of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities; School of Design; and School of Health Sciences); Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology ( School of Science; School of Engineering; and School of Software and Electrical Engineering). Swinburne University of Technology offers courses over 17 broad subject areas providing qualifications at undergraduate and postgraduate level as well as shorter courses for professional development. It also offers foundation and pathways courses and vocational education in design, media, ICT, business, finance, health, science, education, social services, trades and engineering technology.
The totals student population at the university is more than 23,000 students of which over 19,000 are enrolled in the undergraduate programs. More than 35% of its student body comprises of the international students from various countries across the world.
