Tallinn University History

Tallinn University was established in the year 1919. It is a public and research university which is situated in Tallinn in Estonia. It was opened as Tallinn Teachers’ Seminar but it got its present recognition in 2005 after the merger of five universities and research institutes.

Tallinn University Programs, Courses and Schools  

Tallinn University has got six academic schools. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs. Students can also opt for research, continuing education, study abroad, interdisciplinary courses, student academy, open learning, winter school, specialities, in-service trainings, internships and e-courses.

Faculties of the university hold impressive credentials out of which 11% are from abroad. Its film school is the only institution in Northern Europe offering film, television and audiovisual production course in English and is the largest one in the region.

Tallinn University Campuses

Tallinn University has a green campus with huge infrastructure. Its academic buildings have got Latin names. Facilities provided are historic museums, archives museums, cafeteria, theatre, pool, gym, athletic courts, repository, student centre, conference centre, wellness centre and auditorium. Students can become the part of student clubs and unions. Student media includes publishing house, newsletter and video series.

University library includes e-library, research library and learning centre. Books, journals, magazines, publications, manuals and archives are loaded. Students have accessibility to electronic resources, media, computer systems, study rooms and meeting rooms.

Tallinn University is an internationally acclaimed university with its student body representing over 40 countries globally. QS World University Rankings and The Times Higher Education Rankings has ranked it among top 1000 universities of the world. Its education in Sociology is considered to be the best in Baltic state. Its research output is also high.

Students are offered with financial assistance in the form of loans, scholarships and grants. Students are awarded with these on the basis of merit and other criteria.
