Yes, after obtaining a master's degree, you can complete a doctorate at the university's own doctoral center (NYSis) or pursue a cooperative doctorate with partner universities. Through the new doctoral center NYSis, students can, for example, complete a doctorate in engineering.

The regular application period for programmes starting in the winter semester (1 October) runs from 1 May to 15 July. For English-language programmes, the period opens earlier on 1 April and closes on 15 June. International applicants who do not yet live in Germany or the EU are strongly advised to apply by 15 December for the summer semester and 15 June for the winter semester, in order to allow sufficient time for visa and accommodation arrangements.

In addition to possessing a higher education entrance qualification (for a bachelor's programme) or a bachelor's certificate (for a master's programme), international applicants must prove German and/or English language proficiency, depending on the degree programme. For some English-taught engineering programmes, non-EU applicants also need to take the TestAS (Core Test and subject-specific Engineering Module, expecting a standard value of 100) or the SAT (minimum 1050 points).

International students can apply for STIBET I scholarships, funded by the DAAD with resources from the Federal Foreign Office. Applicants generally must have completed at least their third semester at THWS, and the scholarship is awarded based on academic performance, social engagement, financial need, and the expectation of successful completion within one year. The Studentenwerk (Student Services Organisation) offers accommodation in halls of residence in both Würzburg and Schweinfurt, with an average rent of €250 to €350 per month. Please note that after receiving an offer, you usually have only around five days to accept or decline it.

After successfully completing your studies, your residence permit may be extended by up to 18 months for the purpose of seeking work commensurate with your degree (as regulated in §16, Para.5 of the German Residence Act). To inform themselves, THWS regularly organises information events where representatives from the Foreigners' Registration Office and the Federal Employment Agency explain the necessary steps for switching from a student visa to a job-seeking or work visa.
