Technical University of Munich is a public university which was established in the year 1868. The university has campuses located in Munich, Garching, Weihenstephan (Freising), Straubing and also operates a subsidiary in Singapore. The University is ranked 4th overall in Reuters 2017 European Most Innovative University ranking. The University also has a Graduate School and the goal of this institution is to facilitate all doctorates with a further specialist and transferable skills as well as to encourage the building of international and interdisciplinary networks. 

Technical University of Munich’s faculties are divided into three campuses; the Main Campus in central Munich houses the faculties of Architecture, Medicine, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Civil Engineering, Surveying, Economics, Social and Sports Sciences. The second campus is Garching which is home to the faculties of Physics, Chemistry, Informatics, Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering, as well as the Garching research reactor. The third campus is located in Weihenstephan, Freising, and is home to the faculties of Biology, Agricultural Science and Horticulture, Forestry and Resource Management, Brewing and Food Technology, Nutrition, and Landscape Planning and Landscape Architecture. There are also many institutions and research centres throughout Munich and the surrounding area that belong to the university.  

Technical University of Munich has more than 41,000 Students from which, more than 9,000 students are graduates, above 1,000 are doctorate students. The University’s 27% of the student population is of international students and has more than 6,000 faculty members. The University has 17 professors which have been awarded the Nobel Prize, 18 Leibniz Prizes have been awarded to their scientists. 

Technical University of Munich offers several scholarship programs to students such as Alfred Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Stiftung, Bayerisch-Französisches Hochschulzentrum, Bayrische Amerika-Akademie, The German Academic Exchange Service, and many more. The university is home to Germany’s largest university sports community. With 90 different sporting activities ranging from beach volleyball and swimming to yoga, there is something for every inclination and ability. Munich university teams regularly take to the podium in national, European and world intervarsity competitions.
