Step-by-Step Guide to Admission Requirements at Tecnológico de Monterrey

1. High school qualification: Applicants must provide evidence of completed or ongoing Bachillerato/High School studies, including an academic record or transcript with grades. Foreign qualifications should be equivalent to the Mexican high school level.

2. Admission test: Applicants must submit a PAA (Prueba de Aptitud Académica), SAT or ACT score.

3. Curriculum vitae: A CV describing academic achievements, extracurricular activities, leadership, cultural, sports and social involvement is part of the international admission profile.

4. Personal essay: Applicants must submit an essay that helps the Admissions Committee understand their motivation, experiences and personal development.

5. Identification: Foreign applicants can provide a valid passport, immigration document or national identity document.

6. Birth certificate: A copy of the applicant’s birth certificate is required as part of the application documentation.

7. English proficiency: Depending on the programme, applicants may need to demonstrate English proficiency. Tec accepts examinations such as TOEFL iBT, Cambridge B2 First, PET and Pearson tests, or applicants may take the university’s English placement examination.

    Notable Innovation, Research & Development Tecnológico de Monterrey

    Tecnológico de Monterrey has developed significant research and innovation initiatives across healthcare, advanced materials, biotechnology and digital technologies. By 2014, its researchers had registered around 400 patents, reflecting strong technology-transfer activity. In 2019, researchers developed a non-invasive ophthalmic treatment approach for macular edema that received Mexico’s National Prize for Technology and Innovation. In 2021–2022, the university developed PiBot, an autonomous robot designed for biometric monitoring, crowd management and contact-free delivery. In 2022, Tec established the Institute for Obesity Research and the Institute of Advanced Materials for Sustainable Manufacturing, focusing on health solutions and sustainable industrial technologies.
