Teesside University

Teesside University is a public university in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England, with its main campus in Middlesbrough. According to the HESA student record for 2020/21, it has over 21,000 students studying in the UK.

Teesside University History

Teesside University began as a Constantine Technical College, which was officially opened on July 2, 1930, by future King Edward VIII, Prince of Wales. Teesside Polytechnic (Britain's 13th Polytechnic) was founded in 1969 after a temporary rebranding as Constantine College of Technology. The university offered seventeen-degree programs at the time. Teesside Polytechnic became the University of Teesside on June 16, 1992, one of the UK's first new institutions after the passage of the Further and Higher Education Act that year. The University of Teesside was renamed "Teesside University" in 2009.

Teesside University was selected University of the Year and received the Outstanding Employer Engagement Initiative award at the Times Higher Education Awards on October 15, 2009. In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020, Teesside University is ranked in the 801-1000 band of global universities. These encompass nearly 1,400 universities from 92 countries, making them the most comprehensive and diverse university rankings ever.

In the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2022, Teesside University was ranked in the 301-350 range of 539 global universities.

Teesside University is one of only a few in the UK that have received the globally recognized Customer First accreditation for its business services.

In the International Student Barometer Survey 2021, Teesside University was ranked 1 of 96 global universities for overall satisfaction.

Teesside University Infrastructure & Services

Teesside University Campuses

Teesside University has been established on the south banks of the River Tees in the borough of Middlesbrough in the North Yorkshire area of England since its founding as Constantine Technical College in 1930. The A19 and A66 highways provide transportation connections. The Waterhouse clock tower stands in front of the University's main entrance, which is located on the site of the ancient Constantine College building. The University's first Darlington campus was established at the former Eastbourne Secondary School in Darlington's Eastbourne neighbourhood. Darlington's new £13 million Central Park campus opened in 2011. The Centre for Professional and Executive Development (CPED) is now located on the Darlington campus.

    Teesside University has a library on campus. Middlesbrough Campus Library is the major library on the Teesside University Campus Heart. The services and amenities are spread out over five floors, each with its own learning atmosphere. Teesside University's library offers books, online journals, e-books, and other resources.

Teesside University Housing services

     On-campus housing is available at Teesside University. Self-catered rooms are available at Teesside University, but they are usually designated for first-year undergraduate students. International students, postgraduates, staff, and undergraduates can all stay on campus. The Teesside University manages a number of residences (halls, houses and flats). Additional accommodation options are available through the university-managed housing program (properties owned by private landlords but managed by the University). Teesside Central, which added 75 en-suite apartments to the university's accommodation inventory, was purchased in 2015. Central Halls is the name for this type of lodging.
