Is AUR Housing mandatory?

No, AUR Housing is optional. Students may elect for the university to arrange housing on their behalf, or they may choose to make their own independent housing arrangements in Rome

What are the English language proficiency requirements for admission?

Non-native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency with minimum scores of IELTS Academic 6.5 (undergraduate) or 7.0 (graduate), TOEFL 85 (undergraduate) or 100 (graduate), or Duolingo 120 (undergraduate) or 130 (graduate)

Does AUR require SAT or ACT scores for undergraduate admission?

No, SAT and ACT scores are optional and not a requirement for admission to AUR. The university reviews applications holistically, considering factors like leadership potential, motivation, academic growth, and extracurricular involvement

What is the minimum GPA required for admission?

Undergraduate applicants need a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 for consideration, though those below 3.0 may still be considered with an admissions interview. Graduate applicants must have earned a minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent from their undergraduate institution

What merit-based scholarships are available for new students?

AUR offers numerous merit-based scholarships including the Presidential Scholarship (50% tuition for students with 3.8+ GPA), Building Bridges Scholarship for multilingual communicators, Global Scholar Scholarship for students with 3.5+ GPA, and the Italian Pioneer Scholarship for Italian citizens or those with Italian heritage

Can scholarships be combined with each other?

Merit-based scholarships cannot be combined with each other, but they can be combined with financial need-based scholarships and/or student training positions. Students may only receive one merit-based scholarship with a maximum award of €7000 or $8000 annually

Where are the AUR apartments located?

The apartments are located in traditional, well-established residential neighborhoods surrounding the university campus, primarily in Trastevere and Monteverde. Some are walking distance while others are 10-35 minutes away by public transport, offering students a full immersion cultural experience

What is included in the university housing?

Apartments include a single bed in a shared room, basic furnishings and supplies, bed linens and towels, typical Italian cookware, a washing machine, weekly general cleaning, utility charges, maintenance assistance, shared desktop computer, and WiFi. Each apartment houses 4-5 students with 2-3 bedrooms and a shared living room, kitchen, and bathroom .

When should non-EU students apply for their student visa?

Non-EU/EEA citizens must apply for a student visa upon acceptance. The necessary documentation is provided after deposit payment. Since it may take several weeks to obtain an appointment with the local Italian Consulate, students should schedule appointments as soon as possible for a date no more than 90 days prior to arrival

Is it possible to defer enrollment after being accepted?

Yes, students who cannot enroll immediately may request a deferral for up to one academic year. This requires payment of the non-refundable tuition deposit of 500 Euros or 500 US Dollars. After one year, the student loses their deposit and must re-apply for admission
