ICMP is a specialist institution focused exclusively on contemporary music, offering industry-focused, practical education with one-to-one tuition and access to London's music scene. Our courses are taught by active music professionals, and we maintain a strong emphasis on employability and real-world experience from day one.
Yes, ICMP is fully accredited and its degrees are validated by leading UK universities, such as the University of East London. It is also approved by the Office for Students (OfS) and its quality is assured by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).
The main requirements are 96 UCAS points from relevant qualifications and a successful audition/interview to demonstrate your practical ability and passion. For international students, proof of English language proficiency, such as an IELTS score of 6.0, is also required.
ICMP operates a rolling admissions policy, but we encourage early application as places are limited. There are no strict deadlines for most courses, but you should apply well in advance of your intended start date to secure your place and arrange accommodation if needed.
The ICMP campus has secure keycard access, 24/7 CCTV, and is staffed during all opening hours. We have clear emergency procedures, and all students receive a safety induction covering personal security and how to access support, including a 24/7 emergency contact line.
ICMP provides a dedicated, confidential Wellbeing Service offering counselling, mental health support, and advice. We also have a Safeguarding team, a dedicated Mental Health First Aider, and all students have a personal tutor for ongoing pastoral care.
Performance is central to all our degrees. Students participate in weekly performance workshops, form bands, and have access to regular live showcase events in our on-site venue and across London. The curriculum is designed to simulate real industry practice.
While you are expected to bring your own core instrument (e.g., guitar), ICMP provides a vast array of backline equipment, amplifiers, drum kits, and full access to professional recording studios and software suites for all students to use.
ICMP offers a range of scholarships and bursaries, including awards for academic excellence, financial hardship, and specific genres. The flagship ICMP Scholarship can cover a significant portion of tuition fees and is awarded through a competitive application and audition process.
You should first apply for government student finance (if eligible) via the Student Loans Company. For ICMP-specific scholarships and bursaries, you need to submit a separate application form, often requiring a personal statement, references, and sometimes an additional audition or portfolio.
ICMP does not own its own halls but runs a dedicated Housing Service that provides a verified list of private rentals and partnerships with purpose-built student accommodation providers. They offer full support in finding safe, suitable housing in London.
Yes, our London campus is exceptionally well-connected. It is within short walking distance of multiple Underground stations and bus routes, making it easy to commute from across London and access the city's vast music and cultural venues.
Eligible graduates can apply for the Graduate Route visa, allowing you to stay in the UK to work or look for work for up to two years (three years for PhD graduates) after successfully completing your degree at ICMP.
Yes, our International Team provides expert guidance on the Graduate Route and other visa applications. They offer workshops, one-to-one advice sessions, and detailed documentation to help you navigate the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) process.
