The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts History                                        

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts is a Danish art school located in Copenhagen. The academy was established as Royal Danish Academy of Portraiture, Sculpture, and Architecture in 1754 and was renamed to Royal Danish Academy of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture in 1771. It adopted its present name in 1814 and currently enrols over 2000 students.

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts comprises of four schools including School of Visual Arts, School of Architecture, School of Design, and School of Conservation offering a range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. Some of the subjects on offer include Graphic Communication Design, Spatial Design, Strategic Design, Fashion and Clothing, Furniture and Objects, and Textiles.

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts also offers programs in Glass and Ceramics, Urban Design, Landscape Design, Architecture, Graphic Conservation, Object Conservation, Natural History, Urbanism and Societal Change, Visual Design, and Visual Game and Media Design.

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts is located in the Danish capital city of Copenhagen and comprises of a number of buildings located close to the city center. The administrative headquarters of the academy are based in the 17th century building which houses the faculty offices and a few academic departments.

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts offers a range of facilities to students which include classrooms and lecture halls, design and art studios, multimedia and computing labs, and student halls of residence. The campus also offers numerous dining options in addition to dedicated careers division and student support services.

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts boasts of a very low student to faculty ratio of 6:1 and smaller class sizes. The academy has a very low acceptance rate of 10% with its undergraduate Fashion program only accepting 6% of the applicants, making it a highly selective institution.

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts also awards a number of awards each year to leading artists worldwide including C. F. Hansen Medal, Thorvaldsen Medal, and Eckersberg Medal. The academy also offers affordable tuition fee structure and offers a few scholarships to the students.
