The vast majority of our professional bachelor's programs are taught in Dutch, as they are deeply integrated with the local professional field. However, we offer a growing selection of English-taught postgraduate certificates, exchange programs, and summer schools. All students are encouraged to learn Dutch to enrich their experience.
Student life is vibrant and varies per campus, from the historic city center of Mechelen to the more green-campus feel in Geel. Currently, Thomas More does not offer full English-taught professional bachelor's degrees. Our flagship professional bachelor programs are in Dutch to ensure seamless integration into the Flemish workplace. For English-taught options, we focus on postgraduate certificates, advanced master's programs, and international semester exchanges.
International students from outside the EU/EEA can apply for the "Thomas More Talent Scholarship," which offers a partial tuition fee waiver based on academic merit and motivation. EU/EEA students may be eligible for Flemish government grants. We also guide students towards external scholarships like the Belgian Development Cooperation and Erasmus Mundus.

However, campuses like Geel offer a more traditional "campus" feel with all facilities in one green area. The best choice depends on your program and personal preference.
Non-EU graduates can apply for a one-year "Orientation Year" permit (zoekjaar). This residence permit allows you to seek employment or start a business in Belgium without needing a work permit initially. Once you find a qualified job, you can transition to a standard professional work permit.
Yes, our International Office provides dedicated guidance on the application process for the Orientation Year permit. We offer information sessions, document checklists, and can liaise with immigration authorities. However, the application itself is the responsibility of the student, and we recommend starting the process well before your student visa expires.
