Established in 1970, the Thomson River University is a public research university located in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. The university also operates a satellite campus in Williams Lake in British Columbia and a division of distance education ‘TRU Open Learning’.
Thompson River University offers more than 197 programs through its various faculties and schools: Faculty of Adventure, Culinary Arts and Tourism; Faculty of Arts; School of Business and Finance; Faculty of Education and Social Work; Faculty of Law; School of Nursing; Faculty of Science; Faculty of Student Development; and School of Trades and Technology. TRU also has two divisions: Open Learning, offering distance, online and blended learning options to students in all faculties and schools; and TRU World, serving international and study abroad students. Some of the prominent programs at the university are in the field of Adventure Studies, Tourism Management and Natural Resource Science.
The total student population at the university is more than 13,400 students of which over 13,100 are enrolled in the undergraduate programs. The university also has more than 13,000 students enrolled with it in open learning programs.
