University of the Highlands and Islands History                                       

University of the Highlands and Islands is a consortium of thirteen higher education and research institutions located in the Highlands and Islands, Scotland. The university’s history dates back to 19th century to a number of smaller institutions which were reconstituted to form UHI Millennium Institute in 2001. It was conferred university status in 2011 and currently enrols over 9500 students.
