ULCO's infrastructure is designed to support its academic and research missions. The university boasts a Green Data Center called Calculco, which houses a powerful computing cluster with 1,624 cores, 12.66 TB of RAM, and approximately 800 TB of storage, delivering a total computing power of 180 TFlops. To promote sustainable mobility, ULCO has installed secure and covered bicycle parking facilities at various campus locations. All teaching sites are equipped with dining halls and libraries, ensuring students have access to essential amenities.
Student life at ULCO is vibrant and dynamic, with a strong emphasis on community and engagement. The university offers numerous opportunities for students to get involved in associative life, cultural activities, and sports. Events like "Explor'ULCO" are organized at the start of the academic year to help new students discover the university and its support services through fun and festive activities. Students can also participate in various initiatives funded by the FSDIE (Solidarity and Development Fund for Student Initiatives), which supports projects in culture, ecology, sports, and more.

ULCO provides robust career support through its Career Center, a platform in partnership with Jobteaser that is dedicated to disseminating internship, work-study, and job offers. The university's orientation and professional integration service (SUAIOIP) is available to assist students with all career-related inquiries. With over 1,100 apprentices benefiting from university-quality training through its CFA (Dunéo), ULCO ensures that students gain valuable professional experience alongside their academic studies.
The below information is required while
completing the university application :
1. High school diploma or an official foreign secondary education equivalent.
2. Minimum B2 level in French (CEFR), as most programs are taught in French.
Know moreULCO actively recruits students for various "campus life" missions, which include promoting training programs, supporting the language resource center, and assisting with sports, cultural, and health-related activities. These student jobs provide valuable on-campus experience. For the 2026-2027 academic year, recruitment for these diverse roles, ranging from reception to sports animation, has been underway. The university also recruits for administrative and teaching positions across its four campuses, reinforcing its commitment to being a human-scale university.

In partnership with Huawei, the LISIC laboratory developed an algorithm that automatically analyzes and enhances smartphone photos. It identifies image elements and self-corrects lighting, exposure, and contrast, significantly improving picture quality through artificial intelligence.
ULCO researcher Rémy Hurdiel created a wearable device to monitor sailors' sleep and vital signs during high-stakes competitions like the Vendée Globe. Patented and developed with ULCO's engineering school (ELCO), it collects and analyzes "Big Sleep Data" to optimize health and performance.
The LPCA laboratory evolved a Terahertz spectrometer into an automated system for monitoring regulated atmospheric pollutants. This innovation enables precise, real-time analysis of trace gases, contributing to improved environmental monitoring and air quality management.
ULCO's UCEIV laboratory developed high-performance composite materials using flax by-products, achieving over 60% flax content. These sustainable materials are now used in insulation, aviation, and automotive applications, turning agricultural waste into valuable industrial resources.

The algorithm can identify different elements in an image and self-correct issues with lighting, exposure, and contrast, significantly improving the final picture quality.
ULCO researcher Rémy Hurdiel developed a small, wearable device to monitor the sleep and vital data of sailors during high-stakes competitions like the Vendée Globe. The prototype, which is attached to the sailor's clothing, was patented and developed in partnership with ULCO's engineering school (ELCO) to collect and analyze "Big Sleep Data" for performance and health optimization.
The Laboratory of Physico-Chemistry of the Atmosphere (LPCA) at ULCO worked on evolving a Terahertz (THz) spectrometer into an automated measurement system for monitoring regulated pollutants. This system is designed to analyze trace amounts of gas in the atmosphere, contributing to better environmental monitoring and air quality management.
In 2015, ULCO's Unit of Environmental Chemistry and Interactions with Living Organisms (UCEIV) began developing high-performance composite materials using flax by-products (fibers, seed gum, and resin). The goal is to create a new, sustainable material with over 60% flax content for applications in insulation, aviation, and automotive industries, transforming what was once agricultural waste into a valuable resource.
