Established in 1874, the University of Adelaide is a public university located in Adelaide, South Australia. The university has five campuses throughout the state; North Terrace; Roseworthy College at Roseworthy; The Waite Institute at Urrbrae; Thebarton; and the National Wine Centre in the Adelaide Park Lands. It also has a campus in Singapore. It is a member of the Group of Eight and the Association of Commonwealth Universities and of the Sandstone universities. The university is associated with 5 Nobel Laureates and 109 Rhodes Scholars.

The university comprises of 5 faculties: Faculty of Engineering, Computer & Mathematical Sciences (School of Petroleum; School of Chemical Engineering; School of Civil, Environmental & Mining Engineering; School of Computer Science; School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering; School of Mathematical Sciences; and, School of Mechanical Engineering); Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (School of Dentistry; School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Public Health, School of Psychology); Faculty of Arts ( Elder Conservatorium of Music; School of Humanities; School of Education; and, School of Social Sciences); Faculty of the Professions (School of Architecture, and Built Environment; Adelaide Business School; School of Economics; and, Adelaide Law School.); and Faculty of Sciences (School of Agriculture, Food, and Wine; School of Physical Sciences; School of Biological Sciences; School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences).

The total student population at the University of Adelaide is more than 27,000 students of which over 19,400 are enrolled in the under graduate programs. About one-fourth of its student body consists of international students.

The University of Adelaide operates several associated and independent research institutes and groups. These include the South Australian Centre for Economic Studies, the Hanson Institute for Medical Research, and the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). The university has been associated with achievements and discoveries, such as the discovery and development of penicillin, the development of space exploration, sunscreen, the military tank, Wi-Fi, polymer banknotes, and X-ray crystallography, and the study of viticulture and oenology.

1. Adelaide Scholarships International

The University of Adelaide provides Adelaide Scholarships International (ASI) to attract the attention of high quality overseas postgraduate students to areas of research strength in the University of Adelaide to support its research effort.

Eligibility Criteria/ Scholarship Guidelines

In order for one to be qualified, candidates are required to have successfully completed at least the equivalent of an Australian First Class Honors degree (this is a four-year degree with a major research project in the final year). All qualifying study programs must be successfully completed.  Scholarships will be given on academic merit and research potential. Extra-curricular achievements are not considered.

International candidates are expected to not hold a research qualification regarded by the University of Adelaide to be equivalent to an Australian Research Doctorate degree or, if undertaking a Research Masters degree, not possess a research qualification approved by the University of Adelaide to be equivalent to or higher than an Australian Research Masters degree.

International candidates who haven’t given any evidence of their meeting the minimum English language proficiency requirements for direct entry by the scholarship closing date, or who have completed a Pre-Enrollment English Program to meet the entry conditions for the intended program of study, aren’t qualified.

It is required of the candidates to enroll in the University of Adelaide as ‘international students’ and are expected to maintain ‘international student’ status for the duration of their enrollment in the University. Citizens and Permanent Residents of Australia, and citizens of New Zealand are all not qualified.
