The University of Campinas, also called Unicamp, is established in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The university is continuously ranked among the top universities in Brazil. It was built in 1962, and it was one of the very few universities which were designed from scratch unlike the many universities in Brazil that are the result of the consolidation of various already existing schools.
The University of Campinas Campus
It has a vast main campus that is located in Barao, Geraldo district. It was built soon after the Univerity was created, It also has a campus in Limeria, and it also runs two schools in Campinas and Limeira. The government funds the institute and education is free for all undergraduate and graduate programs.
The University of Campinas Programs and Courses
There are a total of 70 degree programs offered by the university in various areas of science. The degrees rewarded after completing an undergraduate program are bachelor's or licentiate, and some program even offers both the degrees. The Brazilian education system does not need a person to complete a degree to practice a profession. This is also true for law and medicine. This is the reason undergraduate programs differ in length so that they can provide all necessary training to the students for practising a profession. Engineering programs at the University last for 4 five years, and medical programs last for up to six years
