In the 2020 National Medical Exam (EUNACOM), UDD’s School of Medicine ranked 2nd nationwide, ahead of many traditional public universities, reinforcing its status in Chile’s health education sector.
UDD further expanded its entrepreneurship ecosystem by launching UDD Ventures, a platform to support startups and innovative student projects. It has since supported over 300 startups across Chile.

In July 2022, UDD, in collaboration with the University of Chile, received a patent for a pharmaceutical composition utilizing preconditioned mesenchymal stem cells. This innovation aims to treat alcohol addiction and prevent relapse by addressing neuroinflammation and oxidative stress associated with alcoholism.
In February 2022, UDD obtained a patent for a natural biocide aimed at preventing and treating infections in honeybee populations, specifically targeting American foulbrood disease caused by Paenibacillus larvae. This formulation offers a non-toxic and user-friendly solution for beekeepers, contributing to the preservation of essential pollinators.
In November 2021, the Institute Data Science (IDS) at UDD received a patent for a method that utilizes mobile service billing data to ascertain population mobility patterns. This technology aids in urban planning and transportation management by analyzing anonymized cellphone data to estimate movement trends.
Later in 2020, UDD secured a patent for TAMI, an interactive educational tool designed to facilitate mathematics learning. Developed by researchers from the Faculty of Design in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering, TAMI enables students to engage in intuitive and collaborative learning experiences by manipulating both digital and physical elements.
