University of Dubai

The University of Dubai is an accredited university in the United Arab Emirates. Licensed nationally by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, UD was the first private university in Dubai to receive AACSB international accreditation in 2009, which it has maintained for the next five years until 2019, and the first private university in the UAE to receive ABET-CAC accreditation for its Computing and Information Systems (BS) programme in 2006.

University of Dubai History

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) established the University of Dubai in 1997 to address workforce skill and qualification gaps and to support the government's human resource development programmes in the private and public sectors. At the time, the university was also known as Dubai Polytechnic College. Graphic Design and Visual Communication were offered in the early years of the school's existence. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research accredited the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computing and Information Systems degree programmes in 2001, marking a watershed moment in the University's history.

University of Dubai Programs, Courses, and Schools

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the UAE has accredited the University of Dubai, and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business on an international level (AACSB). Management, Marketing, Finance and Banking, Accounting, Human Resources Management, Entrepreneurship Management, Business Economics, and Supply Chain and Logistics Management are among the eight majors available at the college. The University of Dubai also has a Computing and Information Systems programme that is accredited locally in the UAE by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as internationally by the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) in the United States. The ABET accreditation was extended until 2020.

University of Dubai Achievements/USP

The University of Dubai's USP/Achievement is that it joined the United Nations Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) in 2008, becoming the first signatory from the Middle East region.

In 2013, UD was named a member of PRME's Champions Group. On November 10 and 11, 2013, UD hosted the third PRME MENA regional conference at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce. The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry supports the University of Dubai.

Campus

The downtown campus of the University of Dubai is located in the heart of Dubai, with some classes held at the Dubai Chamber in Deira, Dubai. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, granted the university 3,000,000 square feet (280,000 m2) of land in Academic City for the construction of a new campus in June 2006.

Medical services

The students' health centre at the University of Dubai provides medical services. The SAA Health Center is located on the second floor of the UC building (Room no UC 201). A registered nurse staffs the centre and provides first aid and health advice in accordance with professional standards and practises. Serious cases are referred to doctors and/or hospitals in the area. If you have a headache, are feeling unwell, or simply want to discuss any health-related issue, you can walk into the Health Center and see a nurse right away.

Confidentiality: Anything you discuss with the nurse will be kept private, and nothing will be disclosed to your parents, family, or friends without your permission.
