University of the Andes History

The University of the Andes is a private research university located in Bogota, Colombia. The University was established in the year 1948 by a group of Colombian intellectuals by Mario Laserna Pinzon. It was the first university established as a nonsectarian.

The University of the Andes, offers 40 undergraduate programs, 27 graduate programs, 15 Ph.D. programs, and 54 master’s programs. The University offers 14 faculties include Architecture and Design, Arts and Humanities, Business Administrative, Economics, Education, Engineering, Interdisciplinary Center for Studies on Development, Law, Medicine, School of Government, Sciences, Social Sciences. The University also has more than 1,457 academic staff, and 1,910 administrative staff and including 12,497 undergraduate students and 2,515 postgraduate students and 276 doctoral students.

The University of the Andes, the campus is largely made up of a mixture of renovated industrial and religious buildings and newly constructed facilities. The infrastructure includes roughly 116 lecture rooms, 219 laboratories, a central library, and 5 satellite libraries (specialized by areas), were over 445,000 books square measure obtainable for college students.
