University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science abbreviated as UMCES is a scientific research center part of University System of Maryland located in Cambridge, Maryland. The center was established in 1925 on Solomons Island and was renamed in 1973 to Center for Environmental and Estuarine Studies. It adopted its present name in 1997 and caters of graduate students.
