University of Mons History
The University of Mons also known as UMONS is a new Belgian university situated in the city of Mons. The university was established in 2009 after the merger of Engineering Faculty of Mons (FPM) and University of Mons-Hainaut. The university enrolls 9000 students and is the smallest university in French-speaking Belgium.

The University of Mons offers various programs across 7 faculties and 3 institutes. They are Engineering, Economics and Management, Psychology and Education Sciences, Medicine and Pharmacy, Sciences, Translation and Interpretation, Architecture and Town Planning, Social Sciences, Legal Sciences, and Language Sciences.
The University of Mons also caters to the research and academic community through its 4 research centers. Multitel and CETIC cater to the Information and Communications Technology researchers, Materia Nova to Materials, and Inisma to Ceramic Materials.

University of Mons campus is located in the city of Mons, a French-speaking area of Belgium. The university has a secondary campus in Charleroi where faculty of business is based. The university campus is home to vibrant social life and is based close to the city centre and Mons train station.
University of Mons offers a wide range of library, sports, recreational, and leisure services to the students. Dedicated international desk caters to international students and students interested to study abroad. The university also provides career and counseling services as well as peaceful study spaces all across the campus.

The University of Mons is not very selective and has a high acceptance rate. The tuition fee is subsidised for EU nationals. The university research and development activities are pursued regionally and internationally and the quality of research and researchers is internationally renowned.
