The University of Nevada, Reno, was established in 1874. Initially, it was located in Elko. In 1881, it became Nevada State University. In 1885, the university moved from Elko to Reno. 1906, it was renamed the University of Nevada and finally the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1969.
