University of the Pikeville History

The University of Pikeville is a private university with its main campus in Pikeville, Kentucky. The University was established in the year 1889 by Presbyterian Church. It initially started as a school and then in the year 1909, it became the Pikeville College Academy and Pikeville College. The former was a school and the latter was a junior college. In 1997, the University of Pikeville in Kentucky was founded. It is a college of Osteopathic Medicine. The University of Pikeville is one of the institutions to have a medical College in the United States. Today, there are more than 3000 students enrolled.
