The application must be submitted within six months of course completion, and the graduate must be in Australia at the time of application.
While the Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485) itself does not grant permanent residency, it provides a pathway for international graduates to gain work experience in Australia, which can improve eligibility for permanent residency options. Graduates can use this work experience to apply for skilled migration visas, such as the Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189) or the Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190), depending on their occupation and qualifications. Employer-sponsored visas are another option for those who secure a job with an Australian employer willing to sponsor them.
